The light source of the 308nm excimer phototherapy system is a molecule composed of xenon atoms (Xe) and chlorine atoms (Cl) under the action of a high-frequency electric field. The chlorine atom accepts an electron from a xenon atom, and when activated, the two atoms are in an unstable binding state (excimer), thereby generating single-frequency excimer light.

308nm excimer light is the middle and the most effective wavelength band of 290 ~ 320nm ultraviolet light, which effectively enhances the activity of tyrosinase in melanocytes, makes melanin production in melanocytes strong, and achieves the effect of treating vitiligo. The single wavelength of 308nm excimer light is considered to be an effective way for ultraviolet light to treat psoriasis. Excimer light can induce T cell apoptosis better than traditional therapy.
